What did you learn today? From your students, I mean?
We all know that the teaching that happens in a classroom isn’t just teachers imparting knowledge to students. Sometimes it’s the other way around. Sometimes we realize it then, in the moment, and sometimes it hits us weeks, months, years later.
Watching this TED talk from child prodigy Adora Svitak today reminded me that many of the wisest, most insightful people I know can’t yet drive, don’t pay bills, and have never applied for a credit card. Perhaps that’s the reason their vision is different, their perspective is keen, and their tendency to speak their minds a tad bit less restrained than many adults.
So today, instead of trying to impart what I know, I’m going to encourage you to listen to Adora. Then leave me a comment or hop on over to Facebook and tell me: what did you learn today?
